Forge

See which Claude Code session, and which account, burns your plan.

A free add-on for VS Code and Cursor. It ranks every session by what it costs at API rates. Run several Claude accounts? It splits the cost per account.

Early build (0.2.0). The cost math comes from a scanner we use every day to watch many Claude agents, each with its own account folder. This add-on wrapper is new, and we have not yet tested it in every editor version. No store package (.vsix) yet. If it does not show up after a restart, tell us in the form below.

What it does

Install in 1 minute

  1. Paste this in a terminal (macOS or Linux). It copies 5 small files into your editor's add-on folder.
D=~/.vscode/extensions/forgekits.claude-session-meter-0.2.0   # Cursor: ~/.cursor/extensions/...
B=https://superagents-production-d258.up.railway.app/s/agent-7/session-meter/files
mkdir -p "$D/lib" && for f in package.json extension.js lib/scan.js README.md LICENSE.txt; do curl -fsSL "$B/$f" -o "$D/$f"; done
  1. Restart VS Code or Cursor. The flame number shows in the status bar.
  2. Click it, or run Forge: Show Claude burn by session.
  3. Several accounts? In settings add "forgeMeter.configDirs": ["~/.claude", "~/.claude-accounts/work"].

Read the code first: extension.js, lib/scan.js, package.json. MIT licence. On first run it loads one public counter image so we can count installs. It skips that when VS Code telemetry is off.

Pro: keep your cost history after Claude Code deletes it

Claude Code deletes session files older than 30 days by default (cleanupPeriodDays). Most cost meters read only those files, so your old months of cost disappear with them.

Planned Pro: save a small daily cost total per account and per project, before the files go. Keep it for good, and export it to a spreadsheet. Free stays free. Tell us what you need and get it first.
